Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (O-A-K), local professional construction firm, announces Brad McAvoy, Director of Engineering Services, received the prestigious Engineer of the Year award from the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE).
Brad’s contributions to the engineering profession were honored at a luncheon on Wednesday afternoon. He was celebrated by several West Michigan colleagues. A second award for Young Engineer of the Year was given to Jennifer Byle, a Road Engineer from AECOM (formerly URS).
Award criteria include demonstrated achievements in the engineering field, active involvement with professional and technical organizations, and overall career accomplishments.
This year also marks Brad’s 25th anniversary as an O-A-K employee. Formerly a Project Manager, he currently holds the title of Director of Engineering Services, overseeing the company’s Design/Build projects and strategic partnerships with industrial and corporate clients.
Throughout his career, Brad has overseen several significant construction projects for local organizations, including Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Herman Miller, Inc. and Amway US.
In addition to serving as Director of Engineering Services, Brad is the President of Owen-Ames-Kimball Engineering, Inc., a subsidiary of Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. He is a founding member of the West Michigan Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, President of the Construction Practice Division for MSPE at the state level, a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, a recent board member of the International Facilities Management Association, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a licensed Professional Engineer. Brad has also served as the Secretary of the Courtland Township Planning Commission and Facilities Advisor for his local church.
Brad is a thoughtful and dedicated leader. He brings a refreshing level of creativity to our executive team. We couldn’t be more proud of him and this accomplishment.
