(GRAND HAVEN, MI) – Members of Covenant Life Church gathered Sunday to celebrate the ground breaking of Phase I of the church’s facility improvement plans. The largest portion of Phase I, an 8,900 square foot youth ministry building addition, will commence immediately.
The $1.3 million building expansion (the first portion of Phase 1) will provide 11 new classrooms, a large teaching/worship space, and restrooms. Current attendance within the church’s children ministry programs frequently exceeds capacity. The new space is expected to meet both current and future needs as the church continues to meet the needs of the community.
Covenant Life Church is a unique historical architectural expression. The former Story & Clark Piano Factory, which is a combination of heavy timber and exposed steel construction, has a rich 1900's industrial heritage, giving the facility an open, straightforward expression. The new addition, with its exposed structure, and simple finishes continues this rich heritage and is a reflection of the character of Covenant Life Church.
The facility addition is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2016.
Alongside church task forces and committees, many local organizations have played a role in developing this project. Partners include: Craig Architects Inc., Architect; Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., Construction Manager; Parkway Electric, Electrical Designer; and Peerbolts, Inc., Mechanical Designer.
