Kalamazoo update: O-A-K earns three new construction projects in Southwest Michigan
Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (O-A-K), local professional construction firm, has been hired to complete three new projects in Southwest Michigan. The firm has maintained a steady workflow since opening their Kalamazoo office in 2013. In line with the company’s business development strategy, the projects cover a broad range of industries including manufacturing/process-based, faith-based and educational.
The first project is a $1 million processing facility renovation for A. M. Todd, a Division of ADM/WILD Flavors and Specialty Ingredients on Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo. A. M. Todd is a plant-based science company and the world’s oldest and largest supplier of American peppermint and spearmint oil. Byce & Associates, Inc. is serving as the architect on the project.
First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo has hired O-A-K to provide Pre-Construction planning and guidance for a roughly $2.2 million renovation to its historic 1920s English Gothic sanctuary and church building. The project is in the preliminary stages of design, with fundraising expected to begin this fall. InForm Architecture is the architectural partner.
The largest of the three projects is a $14 million bond project for Paw Paw Public Schools that was passed by voters on August 5, 2014. O-A-K has been selected as Construction Manager for the project, with architectural partner, Kingscott Associates. The project will include district-wide remodeling, secure entry vestibules, instructional technology, additional technology infrastructure and instructional equipment. Construction will begin in April 2015 and is scheduled for completion in September 2017.
