Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Company (O‑A‑K), a preeminent general contractor with a longstanding presence in Southwest Florida, has announced the appointment of Kevin James as a project manager in the company’s Fort Myers office. James is currently managing the Lee Tran bus shelters project and will manage the construction of the new Family Health Centers building on Summer Ridge Lane.
James has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He began his construction career working in the skilled trades, excelling at aluminum, masonry and concrete work. Within a short amount of time, he started managing crews, site safety, inventory, scheduling and tracking job costs. As construction coordinator in the custom homes field, he drafted proposals, performed takeoffs, tracked job cost and production as well as worked directly with the clients of $250,000 - $1.4 million homes. Most recently, he has worked as a project manager and estimator in the commercial construction industry for both public and private sector projects.
James graduated from Cape Coral High School and attended Edison Community College (now Florida Southwestern State College). He also completed courses in masonry at the Lee County Vocational-Technical Center. He is an AutoCAD technician which makes him capable of any task required from start to finish of construction. James has continued his education and training throughout his career, including supervisory and management courses.
