Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Florida Appoints Richard Borton Project Manager

Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Company (O‑A‑K), a preeminent general contractor with a longstanding presence in Southwest Florida, has announced the appointment of Richard Borton as a project manager in the company’s Fort Myers office.

Borton is currently managing the Fort Myers High School heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) renovation project and the Diplomat Middle School serving line renovations. Both are projects for the School District of Lee County.

Borton has 27 years of experience in the construction industry. His career in construction began in the paving industry where he applied his robust estimating skills and developed an estimating program used by the company for many years, and also performed soil, concrete, asphalt and storm water inspections. He later worked as a project manager in the building industry on diverse, multi-million dollar projects including assisted living facilities, sports centers, colleges, schools, roadwork hardscaping and high-end residential. Being proficient at both estimating and project management allows him to be involved from pre-construction through to close-out for any project.

Borton holds an M.B.A. in Project Management from The Florida Institute of Technology; a B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi; and an Associate of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. He is currently working toward his Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation from National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (N.C.E.E.S.) and Project Management Professional (P.M.P.) certification from the Project Management Institute.

An employee-owned company, O‑A‑K Florida, Inc.’s Board of Directors is comprised of members from the company’s Florida operations. Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Company has provided premier general contracting, design-build, and construction management services in Southwest Florida since 1982.
