LEED Gold Certification was obtained for this facility by incorporating elements such as bamboo practice hall and recital stage flooring with origami walls, specialized lighting, paints, electrical and mechanical placement, and a Safe room with key card exit. Another design element used is the specialized flooring in classrooms, such as bamboo, patterned tile to resemble piano keys, and “floating floors” for acoustical quality. The Performance and Recital Halls have octagonal-shaped acoustical wall coverings and the 3,000 sq. ft. Rehearsal Hall has an octagonal shaped ceiling for optimal acoustical quality. Acoustical wall and ceiling paneling is also located in practice rooms and facility studios. There are also STC rated walls and doors in practice and classrooms. In the 1,000 sq. ft. Grand Lobby, wood panels and a commemorative wall engraved by a local artisan highlight the entry. Along with the 3,260 sq. ft., 196 seat recital hall, there is a 15 student technology laboratory, a 12 student keyboard laboratory, 10 student practice rooms for independent instrumental/vocal study (two rooms for percussion, two rooms with grand pianos and six rooms with upright pianos).
