The Grand Rapids Chamber’s new space was built with the intention to be a magnet for business in Grand Rapids. Designed by Progressive AE, the open-concept was specifically planned to accommodate meetings, trainings, and events, while also allowing members to drop in for coffee and/or work alongside business leaders in the community. The space dedicated for operations was reduced by creating co-working and incubating spaces for Chamber employees. This unique concept was designed to bring greater value to members, attract future members, and turn expenses into revenue generating opportunities.
The 11,000 sf build-out is located in the 250 Monroe building in downtown Grand Rapids. Construction challenges included a new staircase in the center of the office, connecting the first and second floors, and an aggressive 12-week timeline during the holiday months, from November 2017 to March 2018. 30% of trades were performed by women and minority-owned businesses.
