O-A-K renovated approximately 18,000 sf of an existing portion of Herman Miller’s Hickory Street facility to incorporate a new Powder Coat paint line into the space. Most work was performed during second or third shifts and on holidays to allow for the continuous operation of the existing paint line.
As the General Contractor, we worked closely with Herman Miller’s Finishing Engineers, Belco Industries, and Simpson Associates Architecture.
Scope included a horizontal building addition, a vertical roof top addition to install a cure oven, and major structural renovations to existing roof and wall systems to create space for the dry-off oven and conveyor lines. Steel erection was performed off shift, during winter months, with extremely close proximity to Consumer’s Energy power lines to ensure minimal disruption to Herman Miller’s operations.
Project also included a humidity controlled paint application room with epoxy flooring, stainless paint booths, and extensive lighting to allow for custom painting projects.
